Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia (UAI) bersama University of Edinburgh menyelenggarakan kegiatan diseminasi sekaligus penutupan project Academic Success for Research with Visual Impairment pada Kamis, 21 Mei 2026 di Hotel Grandhika Iskandarsyah, Jakarta Selatan. Program ini menjadi bentuk kolaborasi UAI dengan berbagai pihak, seperti University of Edinburgh, British Council, LLDIKTI Wilayah III, Direktorat Pembelajaran dan Kemahasiswaan (Belmawa), serta Komisi Nasional Disabilitas (KND) dalam mendorong pendidikan tinggi yang lebih inklusif bagi penyandang disabilitas netra di Indonesia.


Kegiatan diseminasi dan penutupan project Academic Success for Research with Visual Impairment ini merupakan bagian dari program hibah Going Global Partnership yang didukung oleh British Council Global dan melibatkan sejumlah negara. Acara ini dihadiri oleh Rektor UAI, Prof. Dr. Widodo Muktiyo, beserta jajaran pimpinan UAI dan Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik (FISIP) UAI


Dalam pelaksanaannya, UAI mempelajari berbagai best practice dari University of Edinburgh terkait aksesibilitas pendidikan, dukungan akademik, serta pengembangan lingkungan kampus yang ramah bagi penyandang disabilitas. Selain itu, proyek ini juga menghasilkan rekomendasi kebijakan yang diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan bagi perguruan tinggi di Indonesia dalam memperkuat layanan dan akses pendidikan inklusif.


Tim Pelaksana Project Academic Success for Research with Visual Impairment, Cut Meutia Karolina, M.I.Kom., menyampaikan bahwa keterlibatan berbagai mitra strategis menjadi langkah penting agar hasil penelitian dapat diimplementasikan secara nyata di lingkungan perguruan tinggi. “Kami berharap rekomendasi kebijakan tidak berhenti di kertas saja, tetapi juga dapat diimplementasikan, sehingga seluruh perguruan tinggi di Indonesia mulai memikirkan bahwa inklusivitas bukan sekadar tren, melainkan bagaimana membangun keadilan dan kesempatan yang sama bagi semua orang,” ujar beliau.


Keterlibatan LLDIKTI Wilayah III dan Belmawa turut memperluas penyebaran hasil riset kepada berbagai perguruan tinggi dan pengelola Unit Layanan Disabilitas (ULD) di Indonesia. Dukungan dari KND, kementerian, serta komunitas disabilitas menjadi bagian penting supaya hasil penelitian tidak berhenti sebagai kajian akademik semata, tetapi dapat diterapkan dalam kebijakan pendidikan tinggi yang lebih inklusif dan aksesibel.


Kegiatan diseminasi dan penutupan project Academic Success for Research with Visual Impairment ini menegaskan komitmen UAI dalam membangun kolaborasi nasional dan internasional untuk menghadirkan pendidikan tinggi yang inklusif, aksesibel, serta memberikan kesempatan yang setara bagi seluruh sivitas akademika.
